Hello! I’m Amber, mommy to three awe-inspiring and energetic children. They are ages 6, 4, and 3 which means that I’m deep in the trenches of this motherhood thing. I hear on almost a daily basis, “Oh my! You have your hands full” as one toddler goes one way while the other screams hysterically and I must remind myself that I do have very full hands; hands full of love and energy and blessings and laughter and all the other things God rolled into my children when He created them in my womb. I’m passionate about many things including sewing, sharing in worship at our church and traveling to see my family. But what rises to the top of the heap again and again is my passion for breastfeeding and more accurately, teaching and encouraging other mother’s in their desire to breastfeed their children. I believe whole-heartedly that our bodies were perfectly designed for this task and God created a beautiful and complex thing when He made a mother’s milk. I seek deeply to be a lactation teacher who meets moms where they are rather than requiring them, their views and opinions to come to me. I pray that I teach and encourage with compassion. I am currently pursuing leadership with La Leche League and a lactation education certification (say that 10 times fast!) with CAPPA. I’d love to be a full-fledged IBCLC (the gold standard of lactation consultants) someday. While breastfeeding tends to be my “thing”, I can also talk knowledgeably about cloth diapering, making my own baby food, co-sleeping, baby-wearing, whole foods eating…and reality TV! Of course, I’m also crazy passionate about my husband, Justin, who is working on his Ph.D. in Computer Science. Even when he’s talking about technical things that I’ll never understand, he makes my heart twitter!
